Provides the services of a 24-hour parent hotline offering active listening, support, and referral to statewide resources. Will also send callers information in the mail on educational groups, self-help groups, and parenting classes. Free to KY residents. The web site provides a state-wide list of child abuse prevention services.

KCHIP's mission is to provide low-cost or free health insurance coverage to low-income, uninsured children. KCHIP services for children in the following counties are provided through Passport Health Plan: Breckinridge, Bullitt, Carroll, Grayson, Hardin, Henry, Jefferson, Larue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, Trimble, and Washington. If you have a question about member services for Passport Health Plan, call 1-800-578-0603.

Children residing in other counties not listed are served through KenPAC, a Primary Care Case Management (PCCM) program. If you have a question about member services for areas not served by Passport, call 1-800-635-2570.

If a child is in danger of imminent death, serious physical injury or sexual abuse, the Division of Protection and Permanency will request an emergency custody order from a district judge. For cases in which the child is found to be at serious risk of ongoing abuse, neglect or dependency, statute requires that a temporary removal hearing be held within 10 days of filing the petition.

Every child has a legal right to financial support from both parents, even if the parents are divorced, separated, or were never married. The Division of Child Support (DCS) is a division of the Department of Community Based Services and provides assistance to any person with minor children who needs financial support from an absent parent.

The Food Stamp Program helps people with little or no money buy enough food for healthy meals. It does this by providing people with food stamp benefits, which can be used to buy food at participating stores. Site describes eligibility, application, etc.
